SUMMER PROGRAMS

The MI GEAR UP (M.I.G.U.) Program at Michigan State University (M.S.U.) Summer Residency & College Tours are FREE academically oriented summer programs in which students have the opportunity to experience the college lifestyle, in a controlled environment, with their peers.  The programs are designed by M.I.G.U. staff with careful consideration of feedback received from M.S.U. student employees and volunteers, as well as current M.I.G.U. student participants and their families.  These programs were established with the intention of providing opportunities for students to learn how to identify key resources available to them, both currently and when they reach the post-secondary level of education.

MI GEAR UP Program: Summer College Tours – Application Process

In order to be eligible to participate the summer college tours, students are expected to follow a number of guidelines, instructions, and various stages to the application process, which is designed to prepare them for similar experiences they will be likely to encounter when they begin filling out and submitting applications to community colleges, trade schools, or universities, in their pursuit of a post-secondary education, or in the application processes associated with their future jobs and careers.  Students also have the opportunity, as a part of the application process, to participate in professional interviews with the M.I.G.U. Program staff, during which they were asked questions and provided with feedback to help them learn about how the interview process works and what might be expected of them in the future when they interview for various post-secondary programs, volunteer opportunities, jobs, or careers.
